Family, Farm, Fathers Day

We have just marked Fathers Day again in Australia on the first Sunday in September and for us that means it’s celebrated the way many dads would want. The time is spent very simply, surrounded by family and pets, outdoors around a campfire, burning some BBQ meat over flames, with a nice bottle of red to share with gathered family and friends.

There were presents too, a new reclining camping chair, a beer sampling 6 pack, new socks (you can never have too many happy pairs!) and an argument settler which goes by the name of a smart speaker with Google assistant built in, something we think will be useful on holidays in the caravan.

If you are not familiar with the product it’s pretty much a speaker with a built in microphone that you talk to, to access everything that Google Assistant can do and control. Once you’re connected to the internet you can literally ask any question, even ask for certain music to be played and all hands free. The ideas are already being dreamt up for how it will come in use on holidays. ‘Hey google what are the tide times tomorrow’? ‘Hey google what time is sunset today’? I can see it getting a lot of use.

All the presents of course are really appreciated but the biggest smiles are for the time spent together with the kids, hearing their stories, watching them turn into hard working adults but knowing they love and appreciate these simple rituals too. Nice to see though that they still have time to tease each other and play.

Snoopy had it right!

Cheers

Glenys
