South Australia Great State Vouchers are back.

Today is the day to try and score yourself a Great State Voucher for use on accommodation in either the Adelaide CBD or suburban and regional areas.

The vouchers will be for $100 to use on accommodation in the city and North Adelaide or $50 towards accommodation in other areas and can be applied for via a ballot which runs from today, Friday 11th of February until Monday 14th of February,  on the SA Tourism website.  Registrations open from 9am and close at 5pm on Monday and the ballot is open to all Australians over the age of 18.

There are 160,000 vouchers up for grabs and if you’re lucky enough to score one, you will be contacted by email and SMS on the 15th of February, and you can start planning where to use the voucher anywhere from the 16th of February to the 31st of May (excluding Saturday nights).

With the Adelaide Festival season just kicking off, there will be plenty of atmosphere in the city and shows to see including the Adelaide Fringe. City hotels will be offering special mid-week deals and packages to entice Sunday to Thursday night bookings, and the travel period includes the Easter long weekend and April school holidays.

The types of accommodation include hotels in the city, as well as cabins and holiday parks across all South Australian regions, depending on which venues applied to be part of the promotion. It’s your choice of which voucher to apply for at the time of registration on the SA Tourism website.

As well as these accommodation vouchers, another release will happen in early March where you will be able to apply for vouchers of up to $200 to spend on hosted tours and experiences across South Australia.

The Great State Accommodation Vouchers are an incentive to encourage people to visit and holiday locally and inject money into the economy and with accommodation costs mostly paid for, it means you can spend your money on other things like dining out, shopping or seeing an event while the arts festival is on.

We generally travel to regional areas during the year, so in the past I’ve made use of these vouchers to have a city stay and rediscover our beautiful city, its art and cultural sites and finding top places to dine and drink.

We have used the Great State Experiences Vouchers in the past to have wine and food experiences at regional wineries and with those paid for, you only have to pay for accommodation, which if you’re caravanning or camping is a really cheap option for a great weekend away.

I’ll be jumping on the website as soon as possible today to apply and again in March and fingers crossed, will be one of the lucky ones! Not that I need much incentive to get out and explore.

Good luck and happy travels.

  1. Best of luck with getting your hands on the vouchers! It sounds like a fantastic chance to get a great deal on a great SA getaway. I wish we had something similar in Ireland. With recent inflation rates, staycations in Ireland is out of reach for many people
