It pays to check out local media and social media when you’re road tripping in Australia. It was through doing just that, I happened across a fantastic mural in the Victorian town of Ararat.
More and more lately I seem to keep running into brilliant mural artwork created by artists Mike Makatron and Conrad Bizjak and these two, along with Tayla Broekman, and artists Veins and Refuz, are also behind this colourful piece in Ararat.
The Barkly Street breezeway has been upgraded with the mural which depicts iconic views, activities, and animals of the region including in the nearby Grampians National Park.

As well as the local mountains and landscape, the long mural includes a koala complete with backpack for hiking, a fly fisherman, a red tailed black cockatoo, a glamping tent, mountain biker and other local birds and flowers to find in the area.

Keep a look out as you travel around Australia, you never know where some amazing art will pop up.
Cheers

Another one we’re guilty of breezing through and vow to come back and spend more time in.
