Street Art Gallery – Adelaide Hills

Take a wander down Stephen Street in the Adelaide Hills town of Mount Barker, and you’ll be treated to an eye catching street art gallery wall.

The striking black and white background art is by visual artist Wendy Dixon-Whiley, and four colourful framed artworks are featured on top, which were created in collaboration with the students and teachers from four local primary schools.

The four schools involved were Callington, Echunga, Macclesfield and Meadows and the artworks were created using abstract and experimental art techniques, which the students learnt during workshops delivered by Wendy Dixon-Whiley.

The result is a really attractive wall that stops you in your tracks and encourages passersby to take a closer look to read the story of how this community collaboration mural came about.

More of Wendy Dixon-Whiley’s work can be found in a tunnel that passes under a road in the Mount Barker area, the details of where to find it are in this story.

Well done to all the artists involved in the Stephen Street art project!

Enjoy
