Occasionally on my website I like to review products that I love to use and think others will find useful when caravanning, camping or on road trips.
In the case of SleepKeeper, I was contacted by the makers of this clever little Australian product, asking if I would write a review on this simple yet effective pillow travel bag. I must admit I had seen the product advertised before but not really appreciated just how good it is.
Designed for the person who loves to take their pillow with them everywhere (and with an orthopaedic pillow, yes that’s usually me), this sounded very appealing.
When we’re caravanning it’s not a problem to fit the pillows in as they travel on the bed, but at other times when we’re packing for a road trip and using other accommodation or going on a camping trip, pillows tend to get shoved in empty spaces and moved about as needed to access areas. This can lead to pillow cases getting grubby and the pillow misshapen and it gets just plain annoying having to shift pillows back and forth about the place.

The SleepKeeper product has solved all those issues with its very simple, functional design. In a nutshell, it’s a polyester bag with wide velcro strips and a built in handle that you slip your pillow into then roll up and secure with the straps. The SleepKeeper handle makes it easy to carry or slip over the trolley handle of your suitcase.

It’s that easy to use, and it’s surprising just how small a pillow can pack down to, without causing any damage. The SleepKeeper can reduce a pillow down to a third of its usual size. This small roll can then be simply packed in a car, taking up very little space and the protective cover saves your pillow case from getting dirty. When the SleepKeeper needs cleaning, it can be hand washed and left to air dry.

My only comment on any improvement that could be made, is that I’d like it even better if the cover was made of a more sustainable and biodegradable material such as bamboo or linen, or even ELS (extra long staple) cotton which is a naturally water resistant fabric.
In all honesty I love the functionality and ease of use of the SleepKeeper and can see it making many trips with us. I love the idea that I can carry my pillow with me everywhere without looking like one of those people who carry their pillow with them everywhere! Look for it in future blog photos!

I can see the SleepKeeper being so useful for anyone that loves camping, backpacking, road tripping and even for school camps. For more information and to purchase a SleepKeeper, which start at $39.95, visit the SleepKeeper website.
Cheers

A great little product. i’m just about to tackle the conundrum of transporting our two special pillows to temporary accommodation!

Very handy. I wonder if polyester is used instead of cotton or linen because it is stain and wrinkle resistant.

I’m guessing that is the reason too but I’m hopeful that better alternatives will become more mainstream in time.
