We live well on holidays! Going away with a big group of family and friends lends itself to trying new recipes or perfecting those old favourites. On our annual beach holiday we are lucky enough to catch a variety of seafood and every little thing we keep is put to good use. Between a few camps we pitch in and help each other to create some pretty special dishes in my opinion. Here are a few we love. You’ll notice there are no specific quantities mentioned and that’s because it’s pretty much a guess or done by feel and taste when on holidays.
Its time for the annual holiday that gathers friends and families together at a beachside location around 3 hours from home. For around 15 years we’ve been making this trek after every Christmas to totally relax, renew friendships with families we only see here once a year, and gather our own extended family to enjoy this setting. What little luxuries do you take on holidays? Caravan and camping doesn’t mean you have to go without your favourite things. When you are travelling on a long road trip you are probably more conscious of carrying less to lighten the load but on shorter distances or longer stays why not take some home comforts.

I don’t know about you but the things I do on holidays, even the simple things, suddenly seem much more appealing than they do at home. This is the whole reason we love caravanning. Driving to a new home site and a new view is just the beginning of the fun. Once you’re there, you get to live a whole new life whether it’s for a weekend, weeks or months, but with all the comforts of home. Continue reading
It’s about now that we start to feel a bit down in Southern Australia at the thought of summer being over. Yes I will miss daylight saving, long nights, hot days, cool beaches and dazzling sunsets but some of the best caravanning and camping opportunities are just beginning.
So we can choose to go down the path of ‘there goes the holidays and fun times’ or we can defy the chillier weather ahead and plan for even better escapes…..albeit with more clothes packed in. The sun will still rise and set, just a little earlier and maybe even with more colour!
