What a stinker 2020 has been! So many plans and expectations put on hold, celebrations that we just assumed would happen, didn’t and life as we knew it probably changed forever. It will be interesting to look back on this year, in a few years’ time and see what changes have remained and become a normal part of life after a pandemic.
One thing I always look forward to at Christmas time in Australia is seeing what creative and clever decorations everyone puts up and each year there seems to be more of an effort, maybe especially in 2020 because we are all looking for a cheerful note to end the year on. The effort put in seems to be at another level in the rural areas in particular I find. In an agricultural area near where I live, the farmers have used their imaginations this year coming up with some new fun ideas.
Christmas seems to sneak up on us more quickly each year and before you know it you’re only a fortnight or so away from the main event! In Adelaide the first thing that heralds the festive season is the annual Christmas Pageant through the city streets. This incredible pageant has been held every year since 1933, starting as a way to brighten people’s spirits in the depression years.
