Aquafest is back at Goolwa over this weekend (April 1 & 2) and it’s free to come along and watch this event featuring vintage, classic and modern racing and speedboats.
It takes place in front of the Goolwa Aquatic Club and the usual car park area is taken over with competitors and their boats, so get in early to secure a park nearby.
There are areas along the river to park and view the event along Barrage Road and it’s an exciting spectacle to bring the family to see.
The races are the main part of the event, but you can see the boats on display when not in the water, there will be remote controlled model boats, a classic car display and a vintage airplane flyover.

Food and coffee vans will be available and the Goolwa Aquatic Club is open for drinks, as will be Bomboras on the River, next door. You can always bring your own picnic and enjoy it in the park and playground nearby without missing any of the action.

Todays weather was a bit cold, with the wind causing a bit of chop on the water, not making for great race conditions but it didn’t stop competitors from getting out and throwing their boats around the course. Sunday’s weather is looking better for racing and spectating.

On Sunday a variety of classic ski boats and modern racing boats will be on display and put through their paces in speed events. Aquafest will be on from 9am to 5pm in front of the Goolwa Aquatic Club which is on Barrage Road, Goolwa South.

Enjoy

That would be fun to watch. I’d rather be watching from the shore than out on the water on a brisk day.

This looks like a fun event and I think it’s pretty amazing how engineers and ship designers have developed boats intending to break a water speed record. Thanks for sharing and Happy April 🙂 Aiva xx
