Stay at Big4 Barossa Tourist Park Nuriootpa

I can’t think of a better caravan park in the Barossa which caters so well for a group get together, than the Big4 Barossa Tourist Park at Nuriootpa.

We had the pleasure of staying there recently for a celebration with friends and for winter caravanning it fits the bill perfectly.

The caravan park is divided into three sections, two sections positioned between town ovals at the front and a reserve with bush gardens behind. Coulthard Reserve also has a unique, outdoor Bush Chapel.

For a group booking, our favourite area is section A which has only 17 wide premium grass sites in a more private part of the park on a no through road, and with the Para River behind it. Each of the sites also have their own fire pits to use with your own wood.

This section of the park is very private and perfect for having a group get together without disturbing others in the park. Nearby there is also the amenities block and a camp kitchen with BBQ’s indoors for if the weather turns bad.

Other facilities in the park include a modern meeting and games room, a swimming pool, outdoor BBQ’s and terrific playgrounds for the kids. The bush gardens behind the parks are a lovely spot to visit too.

The town of Nuriootpa is easy to walk to from the caravan park and you can wind your way along a walking trail through the park across the road from the caravan park, which leads towards town.

Friendly Caravan Park Possum

If you’re a sports fan you can watch the local Nuri Tigers football club playing matches on the town oval on the weekends, or the Barossa and Light taxi service can pick you up from the park if you’re keen to visit a winery or two in the area. There are many close by for wines, meals, platters and views.

When you stay at this park you’re also given a Barossa Co-op discount card which can be used at nominated businesses in the town where you’ll receive 10% discount on purchases. One shop you don’t want to miss is the Barossa Fresh supermarket which is an incredibly well stocked fresh food centre to visit with a huge array of meats, cheeses, and cakes as well as the usual supermarket lines. It’s worth waiting to shop for all your food needs once you get to Nuriootpa.

I’d highly recommend this park, especially if you have a winter gathering to organise. A great park for sharing good times with friends.

Enjoy
