Every visit to Melbourne city and suburbs is an opportunity to find arty murals adorning walls, doors, alleyways and buildings.
On a recent visit this was the case again when I stumbled across a few more that were new to me. Take a look and marvel at the incredible art that’s free for all to see.
On the drive into the city, we whizzed by a building under construction in docklands, where boarding surrounding it had been given the mural treatment, with the familiar face of Angus Young from AC/DC fame painted by Heesco. Next to that were some faces in the familiar style of French artist Julian Choquer (Choq).

Walking around the North Melbourne area I spotted a few more arty touches including one in Raglan Street by @drewfunk and a whimsical cloud door next to a Greys ghost sign.

There’s also one big beautiful mural in North Melbourne created by Adrian Doyle @doylesart, Su Pan Sa @supansaa_t, Matt Hannah @mahsrt, and Blender Studios @blenderstudios which was completed in December 2023 and is a take on urban Christmas, Australian style.

When you visit the Queens Victoria markets make sure to go down String Bean Alley to find a trio of roller doors which were painted by Matt Adnate @adnate, @theworkofslicer and Deams.

A large scale mural by Mike Makatron and Conrad Bizjak can be found in the heart of the city in Gallaghers Place. The mural depicts some of Melbourne’s most iconic symbols being overtaken by jungle growth.

The city is shown being reclaimed by nature with green vines climbing over recognisable urban structures, such as Town Hall, a tram and sculptures.

Even as we left Melbourne city behind, we passed quickly by a number of murals some which were doing a great job of distracting from ugly urban utilities.

I’m sure I’ll never see all the street art in Melbourne, but it’s fun trying.

Cheers
Glenys
