It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since Bernadette,
Mitzi and Felicia burst onto the silver screen in all their colourful, camp, creative glory in the Aussie movie, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Broken Heel Festival started in 2015 and since then has grown to run over a 5 day program which includes free shows for all ages. This year’s program will have international and national Drag Artists plus a mix of Disco, Divas, Cabaret and some country.

You’ll need to get in quick though to book event tickets and accommodation with visitors coming from around Australia and overseas to attend this event.
I mean you wouldn’t want to miss the Main Street Parade – where up to 6000 people line the main street in fabulous Priscilla Inspired outfits, or an interactive screening of the film “Priscilla” – with a special Q&A from the cast and crew. This year a special invitation has been extended to ALL cast & crew to have a reunion.

Personally, I’d be busting to take part in the Dance Flash Mob which will be held in the dusty streets of the iconic Silverton. That’s after you’ve been fuelled by the Sunday morning Bloody Mary Bingo and MooMoo breakkie to get the day started of course.

Sound exciting? Well start planning now to be in Broken Hill for the festival which runs from the 5th to the 9th of September 2024.
There are a number of ways to get to Broken Hill from self-drive to buses departing Adelaide, Sydney and Mildura, or even by air with REX airlines who fly direct from Adelaide, Dubbo and Sydney.
For those in New South Wales, there are some utterly fabulous Priscilla inspired ways to get there.
Travel and Glamping Packages are available including a dedicated bus with a queen host from PlanetDwellers ex Sydney, and the Silver City Stiletto Train is a special train service where tickets include entertainment on board with Drag Hosts. Travellers can expect Drag Shows, Bingo, Catwalk competitions and more, on this unforgettable journey.

Accommodation in Broken Hill includes, motels, caravan parks and a special Glamping Site which will feature Big Bell Tents with timber beds frames and furnishings, modern amenities on a secured grass oval and transfers to and from the event. Talk about camping it up in style!

Broken Heel festival is held in outback NSW at Broken Hill which is near the South Australian border and its closest capital city is Adelaide. From Sydney it’s 1150 kilometres west, 516 kilometres from Adelaide and 836 kilometres from Melbourne.

Priscilla is one of my favourite films.
I even went to Kings Canyon, the location for the cock on a rock in a frock!
