This may be one of the most underrated, yet one of Australia’s oldest wine regions and it’s located a mere 70 kilometres from Adelaide in South Australia. Langhorne Creek is on the Fleurieu Peninsula and has a cooler climate than the McLaren Vale and Barossa wine regions due to the cooling breeze that comes from the nearby Lake Alexandrina, which helps to regulate summer heat and winter frosts.
Nestled unobtrusively amongst a stand of gum trees in Langhorne Creek with views of the family vineyard is the surprisingly spacious, shipping container cellar door of Kimbolton Wines.
The wines have been produced by the Kimbolton label since 1998 and today the 5th generation of wine makers are adding a modern stamp to the brand, not the least with this quirky cellar door which was opened in 2018.View the pictures →
