The definition of Slow Travel is to approach a holiday with the intention of connecting to the local people, cultures and food while immersing yourself in the local environment.
I can’t think of a better example than a month spent at a beach, shopping and dining out locally and preparing meals to share with friends and family, from seafood caught daily.
Leisurely strolls on the jetty or the beach in the fresh and sometimes brisk winds give you an appreciation for the crisp sea air and give you time to notice rock pools and life around a jetty.
Even the birdlife is unhurried, happy to glide by in the mornings before the afternoon sea breeze picks up. A perfect time for a stand up paddle too for an amateur like myself.
Our moving picture view of the beach provides more entertainment when kite flyers arrive.
The benefits of slow travel are many including supporting local businesses, it’s more environmentally friendly and beneficial for our health. Slow travel, slow food and a truly relaxing holiday. Make a plan to enjoy some yourself in 2021.
cheers
