It’s winter! And whether where you live is getting any rain or not, it’s damn cold. The kind of weather that calls for an open fire, a nice glass of red or perhaps a hearty dark beer or stout.
Whatever you choose, I’ve got just the recipe for chilly winter days and nights, and that is, a creamy fish pie.
You’ll find the recipe and all your winter fishing tips, in the latest June / July 2025 edition of Fishing SA magazine, in stores now.
For the recipe I used mulloway, but you can use any meaty, white fish in its place. Did we catch the fish? Sadly no. But that’s ok, any good fish monger / market will help you out. Unfortunately fishing isn’t an exact sport, so you don’t always get what you’re targetting, but if you’re like us, any catch is a good catch.

Enjoy the magazine and this warming recipe and I’ll put the recipe up at a later stage on the blog.
Cheers
Glenys

Delicious! And yes, isn’t it cold. So much for the warmer than average winter that was forecast. Today we have icy winds blasting up inland from the storm off the NSW coast. But at least it’s bright and sunny, so that’s a bonus. 🙂
this is my third time trying to comment so if the others actually appear please feel free to delete all but one.

This weather makes me understand the migration north every year! Our region is getting a tiny bit of rain, enough to green up the farms and countryside, but mostly sunny but cold days.

Ha! I doubt it’s much warmer here today. The wind chill is fierce.
