Essential Guide to Free & Off Grid Camping

What is free camping as opposed to off grid camping? What’s the etiquette when it comes to staying off grid, and what sort of preparation is needed for this type of caravanning and camping?

These and other questions are all valid and for people wanting to give it a go for the first time, it can be a little daunting,

There are a number of things you have to think about if you’re planning this type of getaway, the basics include thiinking about what your needs around power, and water are. Where you stay may also be dictated around ablutions, are there showers or at least toilets where you are going, or do you have your own onboard.

Then there are the important considerations of safety if you are planning to go somewhere remote and on your own. Of course sometimes the opposite happens and you have the clinger arrive who parks a little too close even though there is plenty of space to spread out, these are the ones that need the unwritten etiquette rules.

All these questions and more are answered in an article I co-wrote here for RV Daily. It’s a comprehensive guide to everything you should know before you head off for adventures.

Enjoy the great outdoors!

  1. That’s a fantastic article, dear Glenys, and I also loved all your photos. I love off-grid camping becauseΒ it provides the freedom to explore remote locations, a chance to disconnect from technology and stress, and a closer connection with nature. Then, of course, there’s peacefulness, the self-reliance it encourages, and the cost savings from avoiding campground fees. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day πŸ™‚ Aiva xx
