The Surreal McLaren Vale

I’ve written a destination piece on the wine growing region of McLaren Vale and surrounds for the November issue of Liquid Life & Leisure magazine online.

This region is an easy day trip from Adelaide but with so much on offer from more than 70 wineries, a craft brewery, fine dining, nearby farmers market, cycle trail and unique, zany architecture, really interesting shopping and artisans’ stores you will want to stay a few days at least to make the most of it.

The McLaren Vale Lakeside Holiday Park is a green oasis to use as a base with a walking / cycle track running behind it and it’s just a short walk into the town. The Willunga farmers market is nearby and is one of the best in South Australia.

Visit the website, https://liquidlifeandleisure.com.au/ to view the latest magazine and see why this area should be on your ‘must visit’ list. This region is a favourite of mine to visit fairly regularly and yet every time I’m there I seem to find something new and interesting to experience; in fact a long weekend is in the planning to visit again very soon so I’ll let everyone in on any new discoveries too.

Enjoy

  1. We stayed at McLaren Vale in 2008 and it was lovely but I can’t remember these great places being open. Perhaps there’s been a lot of development since then. Time for another trip I think.
