Bristow Smith Reserve Goolwa

Bristow Smith ReserveOn the edge of the Murray River in Goolwa, on Barrage Road, there is a green park just made for family and friend gatherings. A standout for the kids (and big kids) is a large wooden playground full of interesting equipment, swings, winding paths, a clever slide and even its own restored 10 metre wooden fishing boat to explore, just what every good waterside park should have. The playground is also a nature playspace, surrounded with lawn, native garden, a creek and dotted with sculptures and arty creations to find as you climb and weave your way through the garden.

There is plenty of green open space too so you can bring sports equipment to keep the whole family entertained or bring a kayak to launch from the small sandy beach that edges the park. The beach edges a shallow part of the river making it easy to take off in a kayak or paddle board and stays shallow for quite a long way, making it a place where kids can swim safely.

There are a few shelters with tables and benches and three BBQs for use, or you can bring your own shade and picnic with plenty of space available to share. A large car park and public toilets are easily accessible next to the reserve. It’s also conveniently located next to the Goolwa Aquatic Club, Fleurieu Function Centre and Bomboras on the River so you wonโ€™t be short of places to eat and drink if you choose that option instead.

This is a serene area to chill out and looks like an ideal spot for taking time out to read a book by the river ~ just thinking out loud nowโ€ฆbut youโ€™ll know where to find me.

Cheers

Glenys
