Goodbye 2021, It Hasn’t All Been Bad

I thought I’d end the year with a look back at how far I’ve come since I started freelancing, and introduce myself and my website to those who may have just found my site.

In 2015 I began freelance travel writing after completing a ‘Writing for Newspapers and Magazines’ course with the Australian Writers Centre.

The skills I learnt from that course enabled me to get published immediately and set me on the path to gain more freelance work, writing stories for a number of Australian travel, 4WD and fishing magazines and websites.

Over the years that has grown to 8 titles I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with. If you visit my publications and media page you can see where my writing has featured and follow the links to published stories.

As well as writing stories and destination guides, photography is a big part of what I do and my photos have also appeared in magazines, websites and Tourism Campaigns.

I’ve completed more courses and attended creative coaching clinics with the Australian Writers Centre in the past few years, as well as completing a training program with the South Australian Tourism Commission to become a ‘South Australian Expert’. I am a member of TravMedia Australia Pacific and you can find me on LinkedIn too.

In 2021 despite travel being somewhat limited, it didn’t stop us from exploring the Northern Territory and lots of our own backyard in South Australia. I also added to my services by contributing Content and Copywriting with a series of blogs for the website of a new holiday park brand, the first one to have Caravan and holiday Parks in both Australia and New Zealand.

There is still plenty of Australia on the wish list to either revisit or discover for the first time and you can sign up to receive emails to follow along with our latest travels. The News / Blogs page will tell you where we are, show our places to visit in these destinations and include all the fun of road trips, caravanning, four wheel drives and fishing around Australia.

Use the contact page to get in touch if I can help with any questions you have before taking a trip or if I can provide stories, or copywriting services for your magazine, website or business, please send me a message and I’ll be in touch.

It was really wonderful to hear from people who had used the blogs on my website to guide them around when they visited destinations in 2021, I’m always grateful to receive feedback and happy to help travellers to make the most of their leisure time. Don’t forget to try the search function or drop down menu to see specific categories covered in my blog posts.

Thank you for buying the magazines that have featured my work or following along with my website and social media in 2021 and let’s hope 2022 sees us all travelling freely around this vast island we love ~ Australia.

Cheers

Glenys

  1. Love the photos and blog articles. Interested in the AWC I have thought their courses look good. Hope all your travel wishes for 2022 come true and look forward to reading about the adventure.

    1. Thank you Sharon I really do highly recommend AWC, everything I’ve done with them has increased my opportunities and even though the costs sometimes seem steep, I’ve recouped it every time with the paid work. 🙂
